I smell an automated blog spammer

Had a couple of emails (actually, I probably have more, when I go through my inbox) with regards to guest posters. Compare the two, and see if you can figure out why I'm deleting both emails unanswered ...

Hello There,

My name is Dorothy and I'm a professional blogger.

I have over three years of experience writing for the web and have covered plenty of topics about Legal Industry.

I noticed that you have a blog and was wondering if you would be interested in allow me to write relevant, useful topics about Legal on your blog at no cost.

At this point in my writing career, I simply want to get more visibility for your writing and I will write for free as long as you are okay with me adding a small author bio section next to each blog post about myself.

Please let me know if you're interested and if you'd like for me to submit a sample blog post for your approval.

Thanks a bunch,

Dorothy

Aside from the name, and "Dorothy" specifying she writes about "Legal", the emails are IDENTICAL. They also don't specify which blog they're talking about, although since there's only one blog that has a guest posting policy, because it's the one I work on most, I'd say they're talking about that one. Which in itself is funny, because what sort of articles would a legal specialist write about that would be relevant on a blog that mostly consists of film reviews and fangirling? I don't think so.

I mean, most of them at least have the courtesy of mentioning the blog's URL somewhere in the email ... even if they mostly seem to be along the lines of "can you link to our COMPLETELY UNRELATED ECOMMERCE SITE in your section [URL of a film review, i.e. not a section]?". Someone wanted me to advertise prams (you know, for carting babies and toddlers around) on the "section" which was in fact my review of Raising Helen. a) Selling prams is completely irrelevant to the content of a film review in every shape and form, even if the film happens to be about a girl who ends up raising her sister's kids. The kids are too old for prams anyway. b) Do they not actually CHECK the contents before they send out emails?

Sorry Sandra and Dorothy, although I doubt you actually exist with your random GMail accounts (the spammers' favourite webmail provider!), but no, I'm not interested in letting you post spam on my blog.

P.S. Don't get me started on the "we can SEO your site!" offers. a) They're BLOGS, not websites; b) If I was particularly keen to SEO them, I'd do it myself; c) I'm not trying to make money on my blog, or become world famous. You're wasting your time.

P.P.S. Hey, here's another one! This one doesn't say "undisclosed recipients" and "3+" instead of "over three years", but it's still the same email.
